As part of the Cosmo team I was involved in the development of a protective case for Ledger's Stax device, an innovative hardware wallet designed to securely store cryptocurrencies. The goal of the project was to create a durable and functional case that would protect the Stax device from damage and be beautiful. The case industrial design was created by Layer and developed for manufacturing by Cosmo along with the Ledger team.
We undergone a number of key activities, including prototyping, design for manufacturing, and the exploration of multiple concepts. This involved creating several different design options and evaluating each one with Ledger based on criteria such as functionality, durability, and ease of use. It was necessary for manufacturing and supply chain to explore different color, material, and finish (CMF) options to ensure the final product would be aligned with the brand identity of both the Stax device and Ledger as a company. This was all done in concert to accommodate lead times and meet crucial launch dates.
Overall, my work on this project was critical in helping to create a protective case that not only provides essential protection for the Stax device, but also complements its design narrative. My impact on prototyping, design evaluation, and CMF exploration were key factors in ensuring the final product design was achieved.
